Inge, Congratulations on your book and the telling of a powerful story. The story was both heartbreaking and uplifting. A true testament of the human spirit and its ability to endure unimaginable hardships. Surviving was the only option, with the help of a few kind strangers and the grace of God.
I couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. A Sunday afternoon well spent! All the best and I look forward to your next book! Kind regards, Pam Alexa |
"In lucid, unflinching language, Albert ably captures the burdens of the Novaks’ exile over the course of the book. The author also affectingly limns the historical period in which they lived, as well as the ethnic divisions that roiled Czechoslovakia in the wake of the Second World War—and especially the hatred of a people that “wanted fierce revenge—cruel, violent revenge—and all with the blessing of President Beneš’ retribution decree.” Overall, Albert delivers a moving tale that’s emotionally authentic and historically astute.
A skillful and affecting combination of literary drama and historical research." - Kirkus Reviews |

"I finished your book!!! The synopsis on the back cover is an excellent brief summary of the 10 years of trials and tribulations of the Novak’s experience. I found it very interesting how you described in the book their continuing struggles and experiences. I really wasn’t sure how it was going to end until very near the end of the book. WELL DONE!
Initially I was surprised that there wasn’t a Table of Contents describing Chapters - - and there were no Chapters. The more I read I felt that using Chapter names would have taken much of mystery out of what was going to happen next. I ended up glad there weren’t Chapters. The summary on the back cover is excellent - - it is revealed in “books.google.com” under the title of your book. Again, WELL DONE!!! I’m looking forward to reading book reviews." - Ron Norene |
